Outdoor Activities
I have always appreciated the natural world and by regularly immersing myself through camping, hiking, boating, cycling, and an outdoor lifestyle, I continue to lead a healthy and happy life.
My work has often taken me outside and allowed me the opportunity to share my knowledge of the natural world with others. This work has also taught me the importance of safety and risk management when participating in outdoor activities not only for myself but for those around me.

Adventure Sports
I enjoy active sports and the occasional adrenaline rush from surfing, alpine skiing, and scuba diving and on Vancouver Island, I am spoiled as all three of these sports exist. My passion for adventure has led me to previous work as an adventure guide, while my awareness of the dangers involved has allowed me to always conduct these activities safely for both me and my guests.
Due to my love of skiing, I have lived in the resort towns of Whistler and Banff where my experience in the tourism and service industries has grown. My interest in scuba diving has expanded my travel desire to tropical countries around the world and also my career opportunities as I seek to use my interest in the underwater world to educate others and protect our marine environments.

Culture
The world is an amazing place, due much in part to the variety of its peoples and cultures. My desire to learn about various ethnic groups has very much fueled my interest in travel as well as inspiring my anthropology courses at university.
From the art, song and history of the First Nations here in British Columbia, to European cuisine and wine, to the religions and philosophies of South East Asia, to the Mayan traditions uncovered on my most recent trip to Central America, the cultures of the world are one of its richest treasures.

Music
My appreciation for music started at an early age, where classical works by Mozart, Bach, and Chopin (to name a few) were a part of our family household. I learned to read music through 11 years of piano lessons.
I believe music is energy for the soul and an important aspect in setting the mood and environment both at home and in the work environment. Music in all forms (song, rhythm, instrumental, electronic) motivates and inspires me on a daily basis to not only work hard, but to relax and find time for myself to reflect and aspire to greater things.

Photography/Art
Like music, art and photography is a form of expression which captivates and motivates the soul and can set the mood depending on how it is used.
I participated in regular art classes from a young age and remember as a child creating long murals depicting underwater scenes which would stretch for meters on paper. I still enjoy drawing and painting.
With photography, I try to capture moments, reveal stories, and showcase locations for their natural beauty. I enjoy digital, underwater, and SLR film photography and video and am now starting to incorporate my photographs onto painted canvases to create a sort of fusion art.
